Oral Language Lessons Below are some Smart Notebook Files to introduce norms of effective group conversation, as well as criteria for rich talk. This is our first stab at using Smart Notebook software, so they are not glamorous, and more teacher directed than student interactive, in terms of the smart technology. However, the lessons themselves do integrate a variety of effective teaching strategies such as think-pair-share, inner/outer circles, etc. We use these lessons at the beginning of the year to set students up for success with oral language, a critical ingredient for effective Bansho. |
Math Problems and Lessons Below are some rich problems and associated lessons for the Smart Board. Lessons are arranged by strand, and strands are presented more or less in the order in which we taught them the 2012/2013 school year. Where possible, problems include infinite cloners needed to solve the problem with manipulatives. We've also tried to include a few "after" files, so that you can see how some students solved the lessons. |
