Two big concepts we've been exploring during the last few geometry lessons are Angles and Parallel Lines. A challenge -- hitherto -- of the IWB has been that the vocab chart we develop lesson by lesson just sort of "disappears" as one moves from one lesson to the next.
I've recently begun copying the vocab "chart" from each lesson into the next one, and adding to it. It takes an extra few minutes at the end of each Math period, but it sure helps make the learning develop more seamlessly over the course of the unit.
Not only are students more likely to use academic vocabulary as they are discussing the math, but they also refer to the electronic vocabulary chart as we reflect on what we learned at the end of each lesson.
